It has been the bane of successive heads for a generation – finding enough teachers willing to come to Wisbech.
The switch to academy status for Thomas Clarkson has helped (it currently has nine vacancies) but maybe the salary offered for a maths teacher is the way forward?
The Guardian newspaper today is advertising for a maths teacher for Wisbech with the “ability to plan fun, informative lessons” at an eye watering salary that starts at £21,588 PER DAY.
If you’re lucky and achieve the maximum pay scale your salary could rise to an even more enticing £31,552 PER DAY.
The Premier football style wages (for a graduate of course) are on offer on the Guardian website by Servoca Education Resourcing who promotes themselves as a “specialist education agent providing a superior recruitment services”.
Thomas Clarkson Academy’s other vacancies range from progress leader, second in design technology department, a business teacher, PE and English teachers and a part time teacher of Spanish.
The salaries are not mentioned on the academy’s website so whether they compare with teaching maths remains unknown.
Servoca has been contacted for a comment.
We’ve asked if they’ve got their sums right……..
