Maura Orwin, 24, braved the shave at Spike & Violet in High Street, March, to raise money for the charity as well as The Little Princess Trust.

She said: “They need it more than I do and it’s for a good cause.

“Having been a volunteer at brownies and girl guides, I’ve always had the mentality of helping others.”

Maura started growing her hair out for her wedding, which was around two years ago. Her sister-in-law, Caroline, who raised money for Brave the Shave last year, made the first shave, before senior stylist Anne Williamson continued the transformation.

“This will definitely be the shortest I’ve ever had it cut,” she added.

Vicky Viles, salon owner, said: “It’s a fantastic thing to do; not many people would dare to do it. The name says it all really.”

Maura has so far raised £55 for Brave The Shave and £30 for The Little Princess Trust.
