Children at Mepal and Witcham Primary School enjoyed a birthday celebration to mark the Queen’s 90th birthday and invited members of the local community to join them.
The children had decorated the hall with paintings of the Queen, bunting, balloons and flags. The afternoon tea party started with the children singing the national anthem and was followed by a song composed by the children of Robins Class to celebrate the Queen’s birthday.
Chelsea one of the Year 6 pupils had sent an invitation to the Queen inviting her to join the celebrations, unfortunately the Queen wasn’t able to attend but Chelsea read out the reply received from the Queen’s Lady in Waiting.
The children sang ‘happy birthday to your Majesty’ before enjoying the tea party and talking to the older members of the community.
