AN innovative new package of support to give help and advice to migrant workers has been launched by the East of England Development Agency.

The £200,000 18-month pilot project will help workers from countries such as Portugal and Poland settle into the local community.

First part of the project to go live is the Mobile Europeans Taking Action (META) hotline giving information, support and guidance for migrant workers.

An EEDA spokesman said: "Migrant workers are already helping the East of England economy. We hope that the new range of services will make it easier for them to find jobs most suited to their skills and experience and help to bridge our region's skills gap."

- The META hotline number is 0871 423 1334 (Tuesday and Wednesday, 8am-noon and 2-6pm).
