Fenland businesswoman raises more than £1,000 for charity after taking part in ‘Three Peaks Challenge’ in Wales
A Fenland businesswoman has raised more than £1,000 for charity after she took part in the Welsh Three Peaks Challenge in support of the Tag Rugby Trust.
The charity, which helps “build futures” in South Sudan through the sport of rugby, works with children aged five to 16 to teach rugby while “developing discipline”.
Christina Fitzpatrick, managing director of Fenland-based Holiday With Us Group, climbed the three highest peaks in Wales, with a total walking distance of 22 miles, all within 24 hours.
The target is £3,000 and so far the charity walk has raised £1,172.
All funds raised will be used to cover the training and development costs in Uganda of five young volunteer leaders from South Sudan, so that they can then develop and train more volunteers in South Sudan.
A spokesman for the Tag Rugby Trust said: “Our challenge is to create a pool of coaches and administrators to work with the bulging classrooms of primary school children and to initiate positive and lasting change for individuals and communities, suing the universal power and simplicity of sport.”
