More than 120 children at Maple Grove Pre-School in March wore wedding attire in red, white and blue to the party on Friday (May 18) ahead of the duke and duchess’ marriage.

Tina Bidwell, group manager of the pre-school, said: “We all had such a lovely time, there was a fantastic atmosphere.

“Even though the children are little, they might not experience another big Royal Wedding for many years to come.”

Some of the girls added ‘Markle sparkle’ to their bridesmaid dresses, veils, tiaras and princess costumes while the boys wore their prince outfits and posh shirts.

One of the children dressed as Prince Charles, sporting some comical clip-on ears.

Leading up to the celebrations, each child made their own crown and flag, staff also led sessions on the interactive white board where children could see previous royal weddings for inspiration.

Mrs Bidwell added: “While the theme linked to British values, which is part of our curriculum, it also enabled the children to learn about the Royals and participate in a lovely fun day. They all looked amazing.”

On the big day, children met in the foyer of the pre-school with their flags before participating in a royal march around the school grounds.

Arriving at the grassed area, children were treated to a picnic fit for a prince or princess before playing games and dancing.
