More than 800 entries contest Doddington Horticultural Society’s 65th annual show

A FENLAND hall was filled with fresh produce at the weekend as Doddington Horticultural Society’s 65th annual show attracted more than 800 entries.

Competition was fierce in all of the show’s sections with 836 entries submitted - 16 more than last year. The children’s section drew a staggering 306 entries.

Frank Payne, former secretary and treasurer of the committee, presented a host of prizes to those who had impressed the judges with their cooking, handicraft and gardening skills.

Jane Archer won the Bill and Olive Dickerson Shield for the adult with the most points in the show, while Lucy Howard claimed the Emmett Family Shield for the child with the most points.

The main raffle prize of 50 was won by Jackie Yarker, with around 30 other prizes dished out. Refreshments were served, an auction was held and a tombola stall was donated by the committee.

The society thanked all of those who helped stage the successful show.
