PRESIDENT Cynthia Spooner welcomed members and visitors to the monthly meeting of Chatteris Morning WI at King Edward Community Centre and thanked all who had supported the recent coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Care which was well attended.

Reminders were given of forthcoming events including the autumn council meeting, Christmas extravaganza and carol service. West Walton WI has invited members to its New Year meeting. Fund raising for the Cuba Challenge, in which Mrs Spooner will be taking part in November, is still going very well with much local support.

Members were entertained by the St Mary's hand bell ringers led by John Wyles who gave a brief history of the origin of the bells followed by a varied selection of musical pieces from the West End musicals and well-known ballads. The vote of thanks was given by Mrs Spooner followed by coffee and the draw.

The Morning WI's annual meeting will be on Friday November 10, followed by a demonstration on Christmas plaque Icing by Ruth Sindall.
