MP Malcolm Moss claimed more in Parliamentary expenses than Gordon Brown in the 2006/2007 financial year, according to latest figures.
However, the North-East Cambridgeshire MP, who claimed £137,793, came in at 319th in the list of 645 MPs and his expenses are below average.
Mr Moss joins South-East Cambridgeshire MP James Paice as the two most expensive MPs in the county. Mr Paice claimed £131,191 and was placed 289th. The Parliamentary average claim was £137,850, with a total bill of more than £87million.
Prime Minister Gordon Brown, who was Chancellor for the period to which the figures apply, claimed £135,525.
Mr Moss says his expenses reflect that fact he serves a large rural constituency which involves a great deal of travelling. His staff wage bill amounts to £86,000.
John Hayes, MP for South Holland and the Deepings, was the most expensive MP in the Fens, claiming £142,163. His claim was ranked 237th.
Henry Bellingham, MP for North-West Norfolk, claimed £133,353 in expenses and came in 411th, while South-West Norfolk MP Christopher Fraser claimed £135,481 and was ranked 373rd.
