A motor cyclist in his 70s was seriously injured on Sunday afternoon after being thrown from his machine and landing in a dyke at Chatteris.
Fire crews from March and Chatteris were called to help with the accident on the Isle of Ely Way.
“Firefighters arrived to find a collision involving a car and a motorbike,” said a fire service spokesman. “One male casualty was rescued from a dyke.”
Magpas air ambulance fly to the scene and treated the man for what they described as “sustained multiple, serious injuries”.
A Magpas spokesman said: “We gave the man advanced pain relief at the scene (providing him with A&E level care before accompanying him to Addenbrooke’s Hospital via land ambulance.
“He was in a very serious but stable condition upon arrival.

The flight crew, who flew the medical team, were pilot David Kemp and crew member Rob Davies.
An EEAST ambulance paramedic crew, Cambridgeshire police and the fire and rescue service were also in attendance.
