A driver had a lucky escape after a fence post impaled his windscreen in a crash near a Fenland village yesterday during a thunderstorm.
The crash happened at about 6.30pm at Tholomas Drove, between Guyhirn and Wisbech St Mary. The car left High Road during the downpour, smashed through a fence and ended on its side.
Police were called after a passerby spotted the driver of the car walking towards Guyhirn moments after the crash, with minor facial injuries.
Ambulance crews also attended the scene.
