THE switch from analogue to a digital TV could be too expensive for many people, says Malcolm Moss, the MP for NE Cambs.
Mr Moss, a Shadow Minister for Culture and Media, told MPs in the Commons: "Who benefits? I would argue that it is not the consumer. Everyone will pay higher costs, and for many there will be limited increases in viewing choice.
"It has been estimated that some 10 per cent of UK households are likely to be either unable or unwilling to switch to digital. Some so-called pilots have been done, and I recommend a much larger and more important pilot scheme. The switchover is a massive undertaking."
The process of switchover in Anglia will take place in 2011.
