MP Steve Barclay visited Thomas Eaton Primary School in Wimblington to attend the NSPCC's schools service assembly which promotes Childline.

The service aims to reach out and empower young children by working in every primary school in the UK every two years, using specially trained staff and volunteers to talk to children about abuse.

Mr Barclay said: “I was delighted to be invited by the NSPCC to attend their schools service assembly.

“This is a pioneering service which delivers safeguarding messages to ensure pupils know what abuse is in all forms, how to keep themselves and also to ensure they can identify someone to speak to if they are worried about anything.

“I was also treated to a wonderful tour of the school and got to answer some excellent questions about life as an MP.”

ChildLine is the NSPCC’s free, confidential helpline for children and young people and can be reached via phone, email or live chat.

Their telephone number is 0800 1111 and further information can be found at
