POLICE have launched a murder investigation after the victim of a serious assault in Peterborough died in hospital.
Henrikas Baranauskas, 56, died at Peterborough City Hospital on Thursday after his life support machine was turned off.
He had been in the hospital since Saturday October 1 after he collapsed at his home in Lincoln Road.
A post mortem was carried out yesterday morning by Home Office pathologist Dr Ben Swift.
A 21-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder and is due to appear at Cambridge Crown Court on October 14.
