Star students at Neale-Wade Academy were recognised at the school’s annual prestigious awards ceremony.

Pupils at the academy in March celebrated their academic achievements at the ceremony held on Thursday, October 18.

The awards were open all students at the academy and there were a number of categories, including contributions to the community and award for business.

Jason Wing, executive principal, who hosted the night, said: “The awards are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate and recognise the achievements of our students.

The closing address was given by Alex Ogden, an ex-student and currently an officer pilot in the Royal Air Force.

Alex Ogden’s address placed emphasis on being aspirational, believing in yourself and never giving up.

These were the values that Alex reflected on at his time at Neale-Wade and subsequently through university and presently in life within the RAF.

Alex also praised the performances of the students and wished the very best on their future pathways.

Special commendations went to Year 11 students:

• Eleanor Murray for the Active Learning Trust ‘Outstanding Overall GCSE Performance Award’, presented by Jason Wing.

• Mille Clarke for the Smurfit Kappa Award for Business presented by Liz Neal

• Charlie Calvert for the Harrison Murray Award for Contribution to the Community which was presented by Tracey Palmer and Nicola Roberts from Harrison Murray.
