Ex-servicemen and women were among the guests as Neale-Wade Academy held its Remembrance assembly to honour the fallen soldiers from the school and the town.
The key address, which was delivered by assistant principal James Whitney, spoke of many acts of bravery and sacrifice.
Students read poignant stories from the war and allowed the assembly to reflect on the hardships endured to secure the liberties we enjoy today.
A two minute silence was observed and wreaths were laid by governors, old boys of the school and the youngest student.
The assembled then sang Jerusalem followed by the National Anthem.
