A group of green-fingered students are helping to maintain of a community garden.

The Neale-Wade Academy pupils grow fruit, vegetables and plants, which are sold by Year 7 students to local residents at weekly bingo events.

The proceeds from the sale of this year’s crop will fund seeds and equipment for next year.

Jan Holdich said: “Working in the garden at the academy, and helping out at the community garden helps our students develop their confidence, as well as developing skills in customer service, numeracy, coordination and team work.”
