Thirteen year-old cornet player Kirsty Smith has been named as March Brass 2000’s most improved player.

The Neale-Wade Academy student, who is taught by brass specialist Kevin Steward, has been in the junior band for more than two years.

The cup was presented by March Brass 2000 Chairman, Peter Sutterby.

He said: “This award is well deserved. I am very proud of Kirsty and the progress that she has made and we look forward to her joining the main band in the near future.”
