A new counselling service launched 18 months ago has arrived in Wisbech and is rapidly expanding due to demand.

Carol Harmston, founder of JHD Counselling, said: “I saw a need for a counselling service that not only offered one to one counselling, but for an organisation that could offer a whole lot more.

“JHD not only offers clients individual, couples and family counselling, but also support groups, workshops and training courses, as well as school and college counselling services. “

The team of counsellors will be based at Octavia View on South Brink.

JHD Counselling offers personally tailored counselling services throughout Cambridgeshire with a team of qualified counsellors based in Cambridge, Huntingdon, St Neots, Ely, March and now Wisbech’.

Miss Harmston said “The beauty of JHD Counselling is that our clients are matched with our most appropriate counsellor, not just location-wise, but also the most suitable therapist for the clients’ presenting issues. Many of my team of counsellors have extensive experience of working with children and adolescents as well as adults.”

All the therapists are graduates from either Huntingdonshire Regional College or Hills Road College in Cambridge, and all the team adhere to the BACP code of ethics.

The counsellors work in various ways including integrative, psychodynamic, person-centred, CBT and art therapy, with expertise in areas such as addictions, anger, anxiety, body image, coping with change, conflicts at work, depression, eating disorders, grief and loss, low self-esteem, mental health issues, relationships, self-harm, sexuality and stress.

From the first week of February individual, couples or family counselling sessions will be available on Wednesdays between 9am and 5pm and Thursday evenings between 5pm and 9pm.

Fees are £35 per 50 minute sessions for individuals (adults or children) and £40 for couples or families per 1 hour session.
