DISABLED swimmers and gym users at the George Campbell Leisure Centre, March, now have the most modern equipment at the poolside and in the changing room to help them make full use of the centre's facilities.
The leisure centre consulted with Tennyson Lodge in March before buying a new overhead electric hoist to give people with disabilities easy access to the pool. And, when they return to the disabled changing room, there is also a new mobile changing and shower bed.
The new equipment cost £4,000 and the money was raised jointly by Fenland Council, the Rural Renaissance Fund and March and District Disabled Swimming Club.
Councillor Steve Garratt, portfolio holder for sport, leisure and young people, said: "Leisure and exercise is important to everyone and this additional new equipment will encourage more people with disabilities to use the facilities at the George Campbell Leisure Centre. It is very important to us that everyone should have access to high-quality leisure facilities.
