Footpaths that trail across West End Park in March are being dug up and replaced over the next five weeks in an overhaul project costing £65,000.

The pathways are being treated to total make-overs thanks to a pooled budget purse from Fenland District Council and Cambridgeshire County Council.

As part of the work a cycle way is being added on to the main thoroughfare pathway from the George Campbell swimming pool up to Marylebone Road bridge.

Other pathways that criss cross the town centre park are being treated to repairs and resurfacing.

Councillor Jan French said: “Funds became available following pressure being put on to fix the cracked and uneven paths.

“Sections will be done at a time.

“Ward members are delighted that at last the work is being done.”

Work started on Monday and is expected to be complete before the October half term on 21.
