Nine houses and a new access road will be built on land in March despite calls for refusal due to being too close to a junction.

The site in Knights End Road had outline planning approved at Fenland District Council on Wednesday (November 8).

March Town Council had asked for the build to be refused due to “poor access sitting too close to a junction”.

However, the planning committee stated that they would be going with the decision of highways officials who had supported the application.

“Access for the development should be via a dropped kerb if private, or a bell mouth junction if the road is to be offered for adoption,” Alex Woolnough, from highways development management said.

Councillor Dee Laws said: “This is a lovely location. The town and parish council recommend refusal down to access but we have to go with the highways and their support. Therefore I cannot see any reason to refuse this.”

Councillor Sarah Bligh added: “This will benefit the people who live and brighten up that surrounding area.”
