An MP has welcomed news that NHS bosses are willing to consider funding a branch GP surgery at Wimblington.
MP Steve Barclay says he had a “very positive” meeting about the issue with Katie Norton, director of commissioning at East Anglia NHS.
He said: “I had a very positive meeting with Katie Norton and it is clear the door is still open to a branch surgery in Wimblington.
“NHS England did have concerns about the business case that was submitted for the branch surgery and we discussed how those can be addressed and detailed discussion will now take place between East Anglia NHS England and the practice to get the business case acceptable in terms of the level of usage.
“I will be contacting Elizabeth Welcher (practice manager) to let her know the outcome of today’s meeting and what NHS England would like to see delivered at the Wimblington site, such as more frequent usage with a GP available five days a week.”
