A further nine vehicles have been seized by the Cambridgeshire Police Rural Crime Action Team in connection to hare coursing just before Christmas.
The incident follows the arrest of three men in Wimblington on Wednesday December 13 – all three were caught hare coursing and were spotted – with their five dogs – by villagers who called the police.
Hare coursing is the pursuit of hares with dogs, which chase the hare by sight and not by scent.
It is illegal in England, Scotland and Wales and became illegal in Northern Ireland in 2011, however it continues elsewhere in the world as a regulated and judged competitive sport.
Hare coursing has become a major issue in Fenland; in October a dramatic police chase through March town centre ended with hare coursers fleeing their vehicle and escaping on foot.
Cambridgeshire Police released a post on social media showing the most recent seized vehicles – attached was a warning to any potential poachers ‘Don’t come hare coursing in Cambridgeshire’.
