RAIL travellers using March Station have been told they can no longer use cash to buy their tickets.

The decision by One railway to halt cash sales temporarily follows the theft of a safe from the booking office last month.

Rail staff have vetoed taking cash whilst new security arrangements are put in place, which means travellers must use debit or credit cards to obtain their tickets before they travel.

However a 'one' spokesman said any passengers wishing to pay by cash can still buy their tickets from the on-train conductors.

"We are working to restore the full facilities at the ticket office as soon as possible," said Peter Meades, public affairs manager for 'one.'

"We regret the inconvenience caused to passengers while cash payments cannot be accepted at March ticket office following the recent break-in and theft of the office safe.
