THE title of Whittlesey’s citizen of the year is once again up for grabs.

Whittlesey Town Council is looking to recognise people aged 16 or above who have helped in the community, undertaken charity work, fundraised or achieved outstanding results in any discipline.

The current holder of the title is Jean Devenish, who runs an embroidery club and received the award for her work with charities and the British Legion.

There is also a competition for Young Citizen of Year, which will recognise 16 year-olds and under.

To be eligible for the Whittlesey Citizenship award you must live in Whittlesey, Coates, Eastrea, Turves or Pondersbridge.

You can put someone forward for the award by sending a letter marked Whittlesey Citizenship Award to the following address: Susan Evans, Clerk to the Council, Whittlesey Town Council, Grosvenor House, Grosvenor Road, Whittlesey, PE7 1AQ.

Nominations close on February 28 2013 and the winners will be announced at a presentation evening in April.
