THOUSANDS of people across Fenland will be bemoaning the fact that they have put on weight over the festive period.

Well, Fenland District Council's three leisure centres have some good news to help with those new year's resolutions to get fit and lose weight - the cost of a Lifestyle Gym Membership has been frozen at last year's prices.

The monthly membership fee of £38.50 for adults and £23.10 for people under 18 and over 60 is particularly good value when weighed against the increase in daily charges for swimming, swimming lessons and fitness classes, all of which are free for members.

Swimming session for adults will rise by 10p from £2.90 to £3. Fitness classes, too, will rise by 10p, from £4.70 to £4.80. Swimming lessons will go up by 25p, from £4.25 to £4.50.

So, there is no excuse for not adopting a healthier lifestyle anywhere in Fenland. Get down to the Manor Leisure Centre, Whittlesey, Hudson Leisure Centre, Wisbech, or the George Campbell Centre, March, and discover the pleasure of feeling fit and healthy.

Councillor Steve Garratt, portfolio holder for sport, leisure and young people, said: "There has never been a better time to take the plunge and get fit.

"The monthly fee, pegged at last year's prices, is designed to give people a greater incentive to fight the flab and improve their health.
