A TWO-year fight against cancer ended for former March man, Dr Andrew James St John Main, who died at his home in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Dr Main, 55, was educated at the March Grammar School and the University of Leeds, where he received a PhD in Chemical Engineering before moving to Ontario, Canada, to join Imperial Oil. His career with the company spanned 24 years, which saw him work in Sarnia, Toronto and Calgary.
Dr Main was a former goalkeeper for March Town, Wimblington Old Boys, March Falcons, English Universities and Calgary Rangers and was a keen supporter of Grimsby Town FC. He also played cricket for March Town and Wimblington and was an avid reader and runner.
Dr Main's funeral took place on Sunday in Calgary, with donations made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
His parents were Jim and Peggy Main, formerly of Regent Avenue, March, and he leaves wife Christine and daughters Lucy and Katie, in Calgary.
