He was a really smart Guy with a neat trilby hat and striped tie but within minutes of this photograph being taken he was engulfed by flames.
Scouts from the 2nd Wisbech Group put in a great deal of effort in November 1955 to build a huge bonfire with Guy ready for a November 5th show.
More than £5 worth of fireworks bought by the Scout group committee was set off by older Scouts.
The bonfire had been built in the grounds of the Oldfield Lane scout headquarters. The bigger fireworks were set off at a safe distance in Burall's sports field.
The display was watched by a large crowd of Scouts, Cubs, parents and friends.
