A student from FACET was given the role of opening a new eye testing room opening in a March opticians as part of a series of events to support the college for adults with learning disabilities.

John Syrett performed the grand opening of the third testing and contact lens training room at Specsavers.

“The expansion will allow us to better meet demand as we were currently booking several weeks ahead of time.

“We want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while the expansion was taking place and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”

As well as opening the test room John picked the lucky winners from an in-store raffle run throughout June to help raise money for FACET.

Prizes were donated from Specsavers and other local businesses.

Kris Harrold, FACET manager, said: “This is another fantastic story about a huge national company looking to help a small local charity like FACET.

“We really cant thank the March branch team and the customers of SpecSavers enough.

“For Gemma Ashby to organise so many different and original and fun ways to help the students here is really amazing.

“John was thrilled to have such an important job and we truly hope that specsavers and FACET can continue to work closely together in the future.”
