THE changeable weather did not deter parents and children from attending free activity and picnic sessions held in local parks during the summer holidays. The activities were organised by Ormiston Children and Families trust, March Project, working together with the Pre-School Learning Alliance and funded by Sure Start.
The themed sessions lasting two and a half hours each, took place in Manea, Wimblington, Doddington and Christchurch. Each included Circus and Carnival, Seaside and Fossil Hunt, Mini-beast and Bush-tucker Trial and a Physical Play session supported by Ormiston Sporting Chances, Colchester, that attracted 72 children and their parents.
The sessions mirrored imaginative activities, aimed at babies and pre-school children, that take place in the 'Minus 1-5' sessions held weekly during term time in Manea, Benwick and Wimblington Primary schools, and fortnightly in Welney Primary school. For more information on these sessions and sessions that will start in September at Kingsfield Primary School, Chatteris and All Saints Primary School, March, contact Jocelyn Bays: 01354 656581.
