A DRAMATIC police operation in Wisbech on Monday ended with two brothers being arrested and accused of possessing a loaded shot gun.

Five hours after police received an anonymous tip, the brothers were stopped just before 9pm at Needham Bank and arrested.

The men were in a red Vauxhall Corsa which was stopped by police near Newbridge Lane Caravan site.

Thomas Harrison, 24, of Kirkhams Lane, Wisbech, and George Harrison, 22, of Edinburgh Drive, Wisbech, appeared before Fenland magistrates on Wednesday.

They are accused of possessing a .410 double barrelled side-by-side shotgun with intent to cause a person to believe that unlawful violence would be used.

They are also accused of possessing a loaded shotgun in a public place and possessing a shotgun without a certificate.

Fenland magistrates sent them immediately to Cambridge Crown Court, where they are due to face a preliminary hearing on Monday.
