IT may be mid-summer, but a cast of enthusiastic thespians is about to begin rehearsals for a Christmas pantomime.

Chatteris Amateur Thespian Society will hold auditions later this month for its pantomime, which for the first time will be staged in Doddington.

"Would you - or perhaps someone you know - like to appear in a Christmas pantomime?" asked secretary Tony Champion.

"This highly entertaining pantomime is to be staged on December 14 and 15, with a matinee, at Doddington village hall. This is an excellent, modern hall with good facilities, heating and comfortable chairs.

"There's a cast of around 24, so there's lots of parts available. Although mainly adult parts, we are also looking for some children aged seven and over. There'll be some singing and dancing, but not for all the parts. Whatever your talents, we will make use of them. This production will require hard work but with lots of fun and laughter for the participants and audience alike.

"Don't worry if you've no acting experience - as I say, some of the parts are quite small. We are also looking for many backstage helpers too."

Rehearsals will be mostly in Chatteris on Thursdays, and will start in August.

Auditions will be at Doddington village hall on Thursday, June 21, and Wednesday, June 27 (7.30-9.30pm).
