TWO parents of students at Thomas Clarkson Academy in Wisbech have been prosecuted for failing to ensure their children attend school.
The pair, who cannot be named for legal reasons, both pleaded guilty when they appeared at King’s Lynn Magistrates’ Court.
One was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £150 costs, while sentence on the second was deferred until January 2014.
Thomas Clarkson Academy Principal Clare Claxton said: “No one wants to be too tough on parents or children, we would much rather work with them; but sometimes when you have helped and encouraged as much as you can, you just have to say no, this has got to stop.
“It’s a tough but simple message; children have got to come to school if they are to succeed in life.”
