THE September meeting of the Parish Council was held at the County Primary School.
Regarding the village sign members agreed that as Brian Cage was not contactable the clerk should give the drawings of the new village sign to three sign makers to obtain quotations.
The clerk has contacted Mr M Coates for an estimate for cleaning the war memorial. Mr Coates advised that the memorial should not be cleaned professionally as this would spoil the stone. However, he offered to clean the memorial gently once a year before Remembrance Sunday free of charge. It was decided to take up his offer. The chairman, Councillor Pam Hardy had contacted Norfolk County Council to get the conifers near the Old Rose and Crown cut but as this had not been done further contact will be made. Members agreed that Mr Fuller should be asked to cut the hedge on the Playing Field.
Pc Nelson has been contacted about the yellow lines outside the village shop and responded by advising the shop owner to remind customers about parking offences.
Members asked the clerk to contact the highways department to have the yellow lines re-defined. A letter was received from a resident complaining about the litter bin, play areas and weeds on footpaths on Orchard Way.
The Borough Coincil's environment health department says the bin is a job for the Parish Council. A member will remove it. The clerk is to write to the Borough Council asking for the play area to be cut it and informing it of the weeds on the footpath. Next meeting: Monday November 6, Primary School (7pm).
