Pupils designed and made their own rockets and launch pad during a visit to Cambridge University.
The experiments were carried out by Year 5 children from Park Lane Primary School in Whittlesey at the prestigious university’s Engineering department.
Everyone then popped outside to see whose rocket could be launched the furthest into space.
Lorraine Quince, IT support officer at Park Lane, said: “It is such a brilliant experience for the children to work with university lecturers in a real university.
“It hopefully reinforces the idea that anyone could go to a university when they leave school.”
