Passenger numbers triple following introduction of two hourly service from Fenland rail station

Rail passengers using Manea station have tripled since a two hourly service was introduced in December.
From the start of the new service (which began on December 8) until March 15, 1,205 passenger journeys were made from Manea station compared to the 386 journeys made during the same period last year, representing a 212 per cent increase in the numbers of people using the service.
The passenger growth comes after Abellio Greater Anglia introduced a new two hourly weekdays and Saturday service made possible by Network Rail opening a new island platform at Peterborough to increase capacity there.
Prior to the introduction of the new service, two Cross Country trains per day served Manea station.
Jonathan Denby, Abellio Greater Anglia’s Head of Corporate Affairs, said, “We’re pleased to see that, in just three months, the new two-hourly service for Manea station is proving a great success.
