THE discussions on Pay parking in Fenland seem to have brought out the worst in a particular Councillor who is fearful of losing his seat and the Tories control of the Council.

What a statement for Cllr Clark to make, is he only interested in holding on to his seat and nothing else matters. His sentiments on Pay Parking are probably correct but as Kit Owen stated, sometimes tough decisions need to be made at times. Personally I don’t believe Cllrs should be trying to win popularity contests.
As far as Pay Parking is concerned I am of the opinion that those who are grumbling loudest are those who park all day in car parks for some reason or other.
Genuine shoppers if they are like me get it over and done with as quick as possible so a couple of hours pay parking isn’t going to break the bank. In any event there is two hours allowed in Sainsbury’s an as long as people don’t overstay the two hours there is no problem.
So I suggest Cllr Clark you don’t lose any sleep over losing your council seat. There might be a few new faces on the Council in May anyway, regardless of the pay parking issue.
In any case there are very few places which allow free parking these days, so is Fenland innovative or archaic, take your pick?
