A petition has been set up calling for action to stop a dog attacking another child after the Jack Russell bit a five year old girl’s face in an unprovoked attack.
The petition also wants something to be done about the elderly owner who lifted up her dog and pushed it into the youngster’s face saying give the dog a kiss.
A Facebook page called “Help stop another child from being attacked by this dog” has more than 270 members following the incident in Estover Road, March.
Skyla Boldan needed surgery at Peterborough City Hospital following the incident.
Last year the dog bit the leg and hand of another young girl who lives just a few doors away from Skyla and in a separate incident, tore a police officer’s trousers when it attacked him.
The Facebook page says it has been launched: “After seeing all the support from our community about this attack.
“Horrified that it has happened before. That in both attacks the dog was not under the control of the owner, that the dog coursed very deep wounds that will scar for life. How can we help? Start a petition to show that we want something done.”
The petition page says it has been launched to keep children safe and to make the owner take responsibility for what the dog has done.
They want to make sure that the dog never leaves the house without a muzzle and that it will never be taken near children, parks or schools.
If the owner does not comply to the rules they want the dog to be taken from the owner. trained and re-homed.
John Boldan, grandfather, said: “Skyla had deep lacerations to her lip and bruising and needed surgery at Peterborough City Hospital.
“The experience was traumatic for all of us, the blood was pouring everywhere.
“The dog owner is renowned in the area and the dog itself runs about on an extendable lead. It’s supposed to have a muzzle on but doesn’t.”
A police spokesman said an investigation had been launched.
“We were called at 5.45pm on June 21, 2017 to reports of a girl having been bitten by a dog in Estover Road, March.
Words of advice were given to the both owner of the dog and the girl.
“We were called at 8.32am on August 21, 2016 to reports that the dog mentioned in the previous incident was out in public without it’s muzzle and that the owner is not doing what she was ordered to do.
“Words of advice were given to the owner of the dog regarding the dog wearing a muzzle at all times when it goes out.
“The RSPCA sent a letter of warning too.”
