PLANS to extend a home in March got the go ahead this week, despite officers of Fenland District Council saying the proposal that included three new dormer windows was inappropriate.
Councillor Kit Owen said the plans for 22 Orchard Road South, March, would enhance the property in “this fairly exclusive area.”
The plans included the erection of a detached double garage with storage above, a two storey side extension, and alterations to the first floor. An existing dormer window will be removed.
An officer’s report said: “This proposal would create a development that would remove the dominant feature, and would result in a scale and form of development that would be unbalanced visually in relation to the adjoining property.”
March Town Council supported the plan, and Councillor Jan French told Wednesday’s planning committee: “I think this is a nice design, and it is acceptable in the street scene.”
