THE police dog unit was scrambled to a Chatteris supermarket on Saturday after offenders set off the store alarm in an attempted burglary.
The Co-op’s shutters were forced open at around 4.30am, damaging the locks and the front window of the Bridge Street store.
The break-in activated the alarm and police were called. Officers and the dog unit searched the premises but nobody was found at the scene. Nothing was stolen from the store.
DC Ahmed Ishaq, investigating said: “We would like to hear from anyone who may have seen something suspicious in the area.”
Anyone with information should contact DC Ishaq at Wisbech Police Station on 0345 456 456 4 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
The Chatteris Co-op was the target of a shocking burglary in September last year, where thieves wielding an axe and a sledge hammer stole 11,000 worth of cigarettes.
