KNOWN offenders are being targeted on a daily basis in a bid to stamp out a sudden surge in house burglaries across Wisbech.
“Dwelling burglaries have significantly increased in Wisbech during the last few weeks, both day time and overnight,” said Sgt Dave Bax.
He called for the public to be “extra vigilant and report anything suspicious. We recently caught two burglars `red-handed` following a phone call from member of the public reporting persons acting suspiciously.”
Police have put extra resources into the town and by stepping up police activity hope to catch more burglars.
Sgt Bax added: “We are targeting known offenders on a daily basis with disruption visits to their home address.”
He said police were also calling regularly on second hand shops in the town to check for items that may be offered for sale.
