A FIREARM and live ammunition were recovered from a property in Wisbech over the weekend.Officers attended an address in Elizabeth Way on Saturday following information received.A warrant to search the premises was issued, and Sector Inspector Steve Bretherton said: "This recovery was a result of information passed to us by members of the public and has resulted in the recovery of a firearm and ammunition. "I would like to remind people that we act on information that is passed to us in confidence and, although you may not see anything happen straight away, we will build intelligence until we are able to do something about it." The raid followed the launch of an operation to crack down on crime across the county by encouraging members of the public to help police by passing information and intelligence about suspicious or unusual activity in their area. Neighbourhood policing teams distributed postcards to residents asking for help in tackling crime in their area. The postcards feature the police non-emergency number, 0845 456 4564, the website address, www.cambs.police.uk and the Crimestoppers number, 0800 555 111.
