TEN members of a March pool team held their nerve and managed to stay awake for 24 hours to complete a marathon fund-raiser.
The British Legion team racked up a staggering 210 games in the 24-hour marathon, and pocketed £1,500 for the legion's club hall and the Arthritis Society.
Guy Tyers, who plays for the British Legion 'A' team in the Cherry Automatics March Pool League first division, said: "The legion hall needs major building work. We have been based there for four years and they have looked after us and so wanted to give something back to them.
"We also decided to split the money evenly with the Arthritis Society because the wife of one of our players, and my mother, suffers from arthritis."
The total raised from sponsorship was boosted by £160 from a draw held through the marathon, and £51 from visitors to the club who challenged any sponsored player.
Andy Lucas, British amd World Pool Champion, took on all the local players during the event and is pictured here about the get one of his matches under way.
