AFTER reading your comment in last week's paper 'Sloppy Joes lose their respect in the classroom', I felt both disappointed and angry.Do we really have to resort to focusing yet again on schools in a negative way? Why focus on the small minority of problems in our education system today, instead of celebrating the resounding success of our local schools?I am proud to be a governor of a local secondary school and I can assure you that our staff have the highest standards of professionalism and have the respect of their students.Comments like the ones made last week could only serve to dishearten commitment and professional colleagues who do strive to offer their best for their pupils.I lament the fact that the press today finds time to report only the bad news in our schools. Come into our school; witness the success, the environment and the tireless efforts of our staff to care for our students. Just as schools success should go beyond league tables and results and focus on the whole learning experience, then so should the focus on staff go beyond their outward appearance, and focus upon what they as individuals are actually achieving.MRS P A GOODJOHNVice-chairman of governorsCromwell Community CollegeChatteris
