THANK you for asking Cambs Times readers to comment of the recent decision to move the start time of Fenland District Council's planning meetings.I don't think planning meetings should be switched to a 2.30pm start. Firstly, it isn't always possible for people to arrange half a day's annual leave on the day of meetings. Secondly, it may be that the 'vast majority' of planning applications(but not all planning applications) are available on-line, but not everybody has access to the internet or is computer literate.I think the planning committee has done what it usually does and has not listened to members of the public. Why bother asking the public to complete a survey and completely ignore the results? If councillors don't want to make important decisions at the end of a 13 or 14-hour day, perhaps they should step down and let someone who is prepared to make such important decisions take their place.I thought the role of the councillors was to represent the opinions of the people of March. However, it seems to me that public opinion is not taken into consideration even when councillors are making such important decisions: I refer to the case of 38 Regent Avenue were 13 residents opposed a planning application, but the planning committee approved it anyway.
