IN December I was due to move to Nottingham from March. I was to rent a property until I found a house to purchase.

I had accepted an offer on my property and found a house to rent. I had assumed that when you hire a legal practice it can be trusted to give you the correct advice. Please do not be fooled.

I was advised by my solicitor, to move into my rented property even though my buyer had not exchanged contracts. I thought it would be wise to wait until everything was finalised but my conveyance clerk said everything was in hand. In fact, she told me three times to move.

After moving all my furniture and belongings to the new house, our buyer backed out. We had to live in our house in March for over a week with only an inflatable bed as everything had gone.

Thinking that the solicitor would be morally responsible for giving me such bad advice, not once but three times, she would reimburse me for the removal of my furniture, once to Nottingham then moving the whole lot back down to March.

But the solicitor denies giving that advice. I am now about £2,500 down by taking advice from what I thought was a professional.

So please be warned, when you employ a professional, solicitor or conveyance clerk, make sure you get all conversations taped or at l;east put in writing or you will have no comeback.
