A princess is needed to lead the parade and open this year’s Summer Festival in March.

The competition to find the 2017 princess is still open and organisers are looking for somebody aged 10 to 16 years.

The winner will receive a prize of £75 and will be on the leading float for the parade on Saturday June 10.

Ian Groome, president of March Lions, said: “We are looking for somebody who lives in March or surrounding villages who would like to be princess for a day and open the weekend festivities.”

The Summer Festival opens on Friday June 9 with local bands playing at Rock in the Park.

On Saturday 10 is the festival parade followed by Pop in the Park with music, stalls, fun fair rides and dog show.

On Sunday there is Picnic in the Park with family focused music and entertainment.

There will also be a soap box race organised by the March Lions - the first time this will feature at the weekend event.
