PUPILS at a March primary school have been given a colourful new study space after parents and teachers came together to renovate their outdated library.

Westwood Primary School’s library has been rejuvenated with new books, rugs, tables, decorations and bean-bags as part of around 1500 worth of investment from the friends of the school.

Helen Sidaway, one of the teachers behind the renovation project, said: “Our library was just so outdated and so we thought a bit more colour would be nice.

“Parents have come in on weekends to help paint it. It’s great to see it open and I’m sure it will be very well received.”

The library, which was opened yesterday by head teacher Gill Thomas and the school’s ‘reading ambassadors’, has been decorated with pupils’ artwork.

Teacher Liz Tkocz, who also helped with the project, said: “To have such a lovely place for the children to come and enjoy the experience of reading is what we wanted - and we have certainly got it. It’s bright, exciting and I can’t wait for everyone to use it.”
