Fenland pupils have created a series of 'no smoking' posters to encourage residents to bin their cigarettes.

The posters, designed by children from Orchards Primary in Wisbech, Westwood Primary in March and Park Lane in Whittlesey, are on display at parks and playgrounds across the district asking people not to light up where children play.

The colourful designs were created as part of a school poster competition, organised by Fenland District Council as part of its Tidy Fenland campaign to tackle environmental issues.

Children were asked to design posters which would encourage people to respect gated play areas, with messages around no smoking, as well as no littering and no dog fouling.

Hundreds of pupils took part in the competition and there was one no smoking poster winner at Westwood, one at Orchards and two joint winners at Park Lane.

The winners were presented with certificates and their designs were made up into large boards and put on display in 17 different locations across Fenland.
